Hair Restoration in Dallas, TX

40% of women will experience hair loss by the age of 50, including 30 million women in the United States. Most women wish to maintain thick, supple, healthy hair as they age. Women’s Wellness Institute of Dallas has developed an aggressive treatment plan to rejuvenate and restore a full head of healthy hair. This is a 6-month program which includes:

  1. An initial consultation with the medical provider to determine the type and grade of hair loss, medical lab work-up to determine any exacerbating conditions, and microscopic photos of the scalp and hair follicles
  2. Regular PRP Scalp Injections to increase hair density and create a thicker, longer hair shaft
  3. Prescription Hair Serum and oral medication that is FDA approved to cause new hair to grow and slow further loss
  4. Medical Grade Hair Growth Supplements to provide your body with the building blocks it needs to grow strong, thick hair
  5. Regular Trichoscopy analysis to monitor your progress (microscopic photos of your scalp)
  6. Optional Laser Light Therapy for hair loss grade 1 & 2

During the initial consultation, your hair loss type and grade of hair loss will be diagnosed.

Types of Female Hair Loss

  1. Female Androgenic Alopecia: Female pattern hair loss is the most common form seen in females. These women notice gradual hair thinning and shedding over the crown of the head, followed by a widening central part. These changes occur due to age, genetics, and/ or poorly optimized hormones.
  2. Telogen Effluvium: This is the second most common type of hair loss seen in women. Usually noted between the ages of 30 and 70, these women experience abrupt, sudden hair loss or excessive thinning and shedding and, sometimes, even balding. This acute loss may be triggered by stress, menopause, childbirth, poor nutrition, anemia, sun damage, thyroid disease, or smoking.
  3. Alopecia Areata: This is a chronic auto immune disease whereby a woman’s immune system attacks her hair follicles resulting in one or more circular bald patches. This condition is usually brought on by severe stress and has no cure.
  4. Traction Alopecia: This type of hair loss is caused by repeatedly pulling on your hair. You can develop this condition if you often wear your hair in a tight ponytail, bun, or braids, especially if you use chemicals or heat on your hair. Symptoms can be reversed if you stop pulling your hair back.

Regardless of the cause of hair loss, PRP Scalp Injections are at the heart of our Hair Restoration Program. To obtain optimal results, the six-month program includes a series of 3 PRP injections every 6 weeks. These PRP injections are part of a multi-faceted treatment plan that includes both oral and topical prescription medications as well as hair growth supplements working together to produce the healthiest hair possible.

A hair serum containing prescription strength Minoxidil (Rogaine), FDA Approved to treat female pattern hair loss, is placed daily on the scalp. By dilating the blood vessels adjacent to the hair follicle, it activates the hair to regrow and slows hair loss. Finasteride (Propecia) is also prescribed to certain eligible patients. This is an oral medication which lowers the level of a hormone that shrinks hair follicles, thereby protecting the healthy hair shaft.

The Premium Hair Restoration Program is the ideal choice for those patients who desire the most aggressive treatment option available to treat hair loss. This protocol includes a LaserCap which utilizes prescription strength, FDA cleared Low-Level-Laser-Therapy (LLLT). The LaserCap works when the hair follicles absorb the laser light energy to reenergize and regenerate hair follicles to promote hair regrowth. The LaserCap should be worn at least 2 hours per week either at home, or discreetly on the go.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PRP Hair Restoration?

PRP (platelet rich plasma) treatments are an effective and noninvasive approach to naturally restore hair and stimulate healing. PRP is derived from your own blood, which is composed of both red blood cells and plasma. Plasma containing platelets are rich in growth factors that encourage the activity of the hair follicle and produce thicker, longer hair.

How Does PRP Hair Restoration Work?

PRP (platelet rich plasma) hair restoration is a non-surgical, low risk and convenient option to restore the effects of hair loss. Backed by numerous clinical research studies, PRP scalp injections increase blood flow and nutrient delivery to the hair follicle. This quick procedure:

  • Enlarges the size of hair follicles resulting in thicker hair
  • Triggers dormant hair follicles to grow hair again
  • Prevents existing hair from falling out

What to expect with PRP Hair Restoration?

  • Blood draw:Blood is obtained by a simple, painless blood draw.
  • Spin:Your blood is then spun down in a centrifuge and separated into 3 components: platelet rich plasma (PRP), platelet poor plasma, and red blood cells.
  • Inject:Your scalp is prepped and using a tiny needle, small droplets of PRP are injected where increased hair growth and thickness is desired.

When do patients start to see the results from the Hair Restoration Program?

Most patients begin to see improvement within the first 2 to 3 months, but it will take 6 months to see final results, and symptoms may even continue to improve for up to a year after treatment. As with any elective procedure, results will vary. It is also important to understand that non-surgical hair treatments do not work on areas that are completely bald.

Does the Hair Restoration Program Produce Permanent Results?

Hair loss is a chronic condition that worsens as we age and unfortunately there is no cure. Treatment is lifelong, or until a better medication or procedure is developed to maintain results. As soon as you stop treating hair loss it will recur.

What is the Most Common Cause of Failed Hair Restoration Therapy?

Entering the Hair Restoration Program is a six-month commitment on a patient’s part to regain a beautiful head of healthy hair. This requires daily adherence to our protocol for best results. Patient non-compliance with instructions is the most common cause of failed therapy.
