Weight gain, aging, and genetics can all cause the Mons Pubis to become enlarged to the point where it becomes discouraging and interferes with normal vaginal function. Many women who have an overly large Mons Pubis find shopping for clothes very difficult as the bulge of excess skin can show through certain types of clothing. Urination and sexual intercourse can become difficult, as well.
By performing monsplasty at Women’s Wellness Institute of Dallas, Dr. Brady is able to carefully reduce the sagging and puffy skin of the Mons Pubis and tighten the underlying muscles and tissues. This leaves women with a more aesthetically pleasing appearance and improved vaginal function.
Exploring Options with Monsplasty
Every patient will start with a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Brady at Women’s Wellness Institute of Dallas. During this consultation Dr. Brady will take adequate time to get to know her patient, discuss the problems she is experiencing, and find out what her ideal outcomes are for monsplasty.
Dr. Brady will also complete a full physical examination of each patient during their initial consultation. During this time, she will determine the degree of excess skin and fat that needs to be removed during the monsplasty procedure. She will also ensure each patient communicates realistic expectations for what can be accomplished through surgery.
If, after the initial consultation, her patient and Dr. Brady determine monsplasty is the best option for the patient’s problem area, she will review the monsplasty procedure and answer any questions her patient may have. Women should be in good general health and psychological health before monsplasty surgery.
What to Expect with Monsplasty
Before surgery day, Dr. Brady’s monsplasty patients will come to Women’s Wellness Institute of Dallas for a pre-operative appointment during which our staff will answer any additional questions the patient may have about the procedure. Patients will also be sent home with prescriptions and information to encourage a safe and comfortable recovery. Patients visiting from out of town should feel free to schedule their visits in a way that minimizes travel.
Dr. Brady performs monsplasty procedures at a Dallas-area surgical center under general anesthesia. The surgery will take about 1-1.5 hours depending on the degree of repair required to adequately lift and tighten the Mons Pubis.
After general anesthesia has been administered, Dr. Brady will begin the monsplasty surgery. She will:
- Make an incision to remove excess fat from the Pubic Mons, using liposuction if indicated
- Sculpt the area by tightening and lifting the underlying muscles and tissues
- Close the surgical sites with dissolvable sutures
Recovering From Monsplasty
Most monsplasty patients should plan to take about one week off of work and social activities in order to heal well. Physical activity should be restricted for 6 weeks. If patients had skin removed from their Mons Pubis, it is likely that a surgical drain could be placed for a few days in order to remove excess fluid from the area.
Dr. Brady and her staff will support patients at every step in their experience with her practice. Working together, she can help women regain the comfort they had before.
